Tutor in GI Physiology (Senior Grade, Permanent) - St. James's Hospital, Dublin

The post holder will undertake the duties appropriate to a Tutor/ Senior GI Physiologist. This is a unique opportunity for the candidate to design, develop and teach a curriculum suitable for the training of GI Physiologists within Ireland within a clinical setting. This post will allow the post holder to develop and expand their experience in supervisory and management areas, whilst continuing to provide a quality service for patients by ensuring that every patient is treated as an individual in terms of courtesy, kindness, efficiency, efficacy, and confidentiality

This role will also involve working with a dedicated team in the GI Function Unit under the direction of the Chief II GI Physiologist. Candidate Requirements

Academic/Professional Qualifications and/ or Experience

Required:

Possess the BSc in Clinical Measurement or currently in final year of the BSc, from Dublin Institute of Technology or equivalent as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS)

Or

Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement (prior 2001) from Dublin Institute of Technology or equivalent as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS)

Possess an equivalent relevant scientific qualification (level 8) as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement (IICMS)

Ability to conduct all technical aspects of GI Physiology testing

Have at least 2 years post qualification experience

Respiratory Physiologist (Basic Grade) - St. Vincent's Private Hospital

Applications are invited for the Permanent position of Basic Grade Respiratory Physiologist in St. Vincent’s Private Hospital.

Role Description

The Respiratory Laboratory is a busy clinical laboratory that specialises in the diagnostic testing of patients with breathing disorders including those with sleep-related problems.

Tests vary in complexity from routine breathing tests and skin allergy tests, to more advanced procedures such as sleep studies and assessment of bronchial hyper-reactivity.

Essential Criteria

The post holder must :

  • Hold a degree in Clinical Measurement or equivalent or hold a Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological  Measurement.
  • Have good communication skills as the post involves a great deal of contact with patients and with other colleagues.

 

Desirable Criteria

It is desirable for the post holder to :

  • Have experience in pulmonary function testing (Some in-house training will be provided)
  • Have ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

Respiratory Physiologist required for long-term locum position with leading acute hospital, Kildare.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced or newly qualified Respiratory Physiologist to gain excellent experience and further develop their career in a dynamic hospital laboratory setting.

The successful candidate will join an expanding Respiratory Department and perform and analyse a range of diagnostic tests including full lung function tests while providing exceptional patient care.

Interested candidates will be required to:

Conduct a full range of routine pulmonary function tests including, spirometry, reversibility, diffusion capacity and static lung volumes

Conduct specialised pulmonary function tests including inhalation challenge tests

Conduct routine calibration, quality control and preventative maintenance.

Highlight abnormal and/or inconsistent results to the senior staff member/supervisor and take corrective action, if necessary.

Prepare the patient for procedures and undertake education where necessary e.g. teaching patient how to use home monitoring devices and therapy devices such as inhalers.
